What We Offer
The RCN (Navy) Curling Club offers several different league options for Men’s Curling (day and evening), Ladies’ Curling (day and evening), Mixed Curling (day, evening and weekends), Open Doubles Curling, and Stick Curling. We also have exceptional instructional programs for youth (Little Rocks and Bantam/Junior) and adults (Adult Learn-to-Curl).
There are two basic categories of leagues:
Fixed Leagues: Teams are fixed for the season and register as a team. Individuals can also register for Fixed Leagues by indicating on the Registration Form that they are looking for a team. Convenors will make every effort to place individuals on a team. Fixed Leagues tend to be more competitive.
Draw Leagues: Teams are redrawn three to five times per season, depending on how many register. Individuals register to play in the league and the convenors make up the teams based on the skill level and experience of registrants. Draw Leagues tend to be more relaxed.
Regardless of which leagues you join, you are permitted to spare in other leagues. Find out more about our leagues by clicking on the “Divisions” tab.
BUT, we are so much more than our leagues - there is more to a curling club than curling! We are a busy, friendly club with tons on the go. We love our social events … and we have many! Our club-wide events include the Christmas Mixed Spiel (run by the Evening Men), a mid-winter themed Fun Spiel, a Lefties vs Righties Spiel and our wonderful Closing Mixed Spiel (run by the Mixed Division). We also have several popular non-curling events that could include a Euchre Night, a Trivia Night, a Scotch Tasting Night and a New Year’s Party. We also offer a couple of free “Try Curling” events each year to introduce new curlers to the sport without financial obligation (equipment is provided).
So what does this boil down to? Navy offers competitive or relaxed curling, great social events, and grand fun!
